Our culture does not prepare us for dealing with death and dying.  Rather than death being the sacred part of life it once was, it has become a medical process, and most of us are afraid and unprepared.  This is where an End-of-Life Doula, or Death Doula can help.  Death is a stage of life that should be witnessed and honored.  It is my intent to alleviate the fear surrounding death and create space for open and honest communication, while educating and advocating for my clients.

Every individual's experience is unique, that is why I meet my end-of-life clients, and their loved ones, where they are in their journey.  I offer services that can remove some of the mystery around the end-of-life process, providing physical, emotional, spiritual and practical support.  Schedule a free, no-obligation discovery consultation to find out how I can support you and your loved ones.

I serve people in many stages of life, including (but not limited to):

  • Individuals who have been recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. I serve as an educator, advocate and support.
  • Loved ones of someone who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness looking for education and support.
  • Caregivers who are overwhelmed, afraid and confused.
  • Elders who are looking for companionship and socialization.

End of Life Planning

When a person is in their last hours or days of life, it is often referred to the time of vigil or active dying.  This is a sacred time, one that you get to plan thoughtfully, from what you want your surroundings to be like, to who you do and don't want present.  I will help you to decide exactly what you do and don't want during that time, and put a plan into place to make sure it happens.   I will make the necessary arrangements to ensure the appropriate people are present, and have difficult conversations when needed.

When the time of vigil comes, I will be available to be present with you and your family for emotional support and guidance.  From the beginning of vigil to after death, ensuring your wishes are followed for after death care,  including any rituals, dressing or visitations prior to being transported to the funeral home.  I am also available to assist with after-death ceremonies, including support at the funeral home.

Grief & Bereavement

Both before and after death, I will be available to family and loved ones to discuss the nature of grief and assist with the processing of emotions.  I will also plan and facilitate emotional support sessions for family and loved ones as early as first diagnosis.

Elder Care Doula

100 years ago our parents and grandparents lived with us as they aged.  During that time, almost every household had at least one stay-at-home adult.  In our time, this is just no longer the case. Time, distance, work and other obligations have taken our ability to properly care for our elders away.   20% of our elder population don't even have children to help care for them.

I offer individualized holistic physical, emotional, practical and spiritual support for my elder clients.  This includes activities, promoting an active lifestyle where possible, create legacy projects, handle practical tasks and more.

I am available to accompany my clients to medical appointments to support and advocate.

This service is not only for the client, but a great way to ensure caregivers are taking time to care for themselves.

Pricing

Because each clients' needs are different, the cost of my end-of-life doula services are based on an hourly rate.  This allows me to customize each client's care plan rather than lumping anyone into a box.  If we choose to move forward together after our initial discovery meeting, we will have an in-person consultation to come up with a detailed care plan together.

My regular hourly rate is $65.  I offer a 10% discount on bundles of 5 hours or more, which are pre-paid.  It is important for my services to be accessible, therefore custom package rates are available.  You are not charged for driving time or mileage within the service area noted below.

Service Area

Because end-of-life care is time-sensitive, I only offer end-of-life doula services within the highlighted area below. If you are looking for something like a legacy project, life review, or advanced care planning, the service area could be stretched.  I also offer virtual sessions for many of my offerings.

I'm sure you have lots of questions.  Be sure to check out the FAQ.
